Job Summary


Facilities Management at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Electronics Security Specialist II! This position provides timely service to students, staff, faculty and others in need of security services by planning and estimating customer needs for security systems (i.e., electronic access, security software, closed circuit television, asset tagging, alarms), and installing, servicing, calibrating and maintaining these security systems. The role provides campus with all electronic security by servicing, installing, planning and estimating electronic security systems for projects, and maintaining electronic security systems, controls and devices, security software applications, and electro-mechanical door hardware. Provide electronic security requirements by servicing, installing hardware, and planning and estimating hardware requirements for projects. Produce, maintain and distribute the University's card access inventory for students, staff, and faculty by tracking keys/cards on facility's database. Build, maintain, and edit campus "UCB Standards" and specifications for acceptable building hardware and electronic security systems.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Issue/enter and track card access for campus departments by assigning clearances, securing proper authorized paperwork and inputting information into databases, and training customers in the use of security software. Map out card access control points and assist with organizing security software program.
  • Installation of, or supervise project installation of electronic security systems, repair, calibration, and maintenance of electronic security systems including card access controls, readers, control panels, wiring, and software; CCTV cameras, recorders, multiplexers, quads, monitors; alarm wiring, intrusion detectors, switches and contacts.
  • Design, plan and estimate electronic security systems for campus customers and train customers in the operations of these systems.

What We Can Offer

  • The annual salary range for this position is $65,00 - $71,000.
  • If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require

  • Must be a Colorado resident and have a valid Colorado Driver's License to apply.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience such as experience with installation, repair, calibration, and maintenance of an electronic security system OR a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to two (2) years.

  • An ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong organization skills.
  • The ability to manage a program and working knowledge of C-CURE.
