Postdoctoral Research Associate - Advanced Magnetics & Electronics Laboratory

About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

Located at the Burlington Campus, the Northeastern Advanced Magnetics & Electronics (NAME) Laboratory is dedicated to studying a diverse range of topics in magnetics and electronics. Our current focus areas include spin transport, spin torque, ferromagnetic resonance, spin waves, magnonics, electronic topological materials, superconductivity, and high-frequency electronics. We are committed to discovering novel magnetic and electronic phenomena and exploring their potential for next-generation microelectronic and computing technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform basic or applied research of a limited scope, primarily using existing theories and methods. Individuals should have the ability and desire to innovate when these are insufficient. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will assist the supervisor in the interpretation and publication of results and grants. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will maintain the laboratory research team and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff.

The primary responsibility of the Postdoctoral Research Associate will be to investigate magnons in magnetic thin films and heterostructures, and to explore their applications in high-frequency electronics and quantum information science.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Physics or a related field is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience in thin-film growth and characterization, nano-fabrication, high-frequency experiments, and low-temperature electrical measurements. Additional desirable qualifications include a deep understanding of magnetization dynamics and experience with optical measurements and micromagnetic simulations.
